Exclusive: YouTube hits 4 billion daily video views

YouTube, Google's video site reached 4 billion view online videos a day, up 25% from last May, according to the company.

Leap in the number of YouTube video views have pushed beyond the scope of personal computers, more development work on versions of smart phones and television. Youtube also are efforts to provide more professional content.

 

And people aren't just watching more videos; they're creating more as well. Get this - about 60 hours of new video content is uploaded to the site every single minute. Back in May 2011, that number was around 48 hours.

 

Google acquired YouTube for $ 1.65 billion in 2006, the site held an important position in creating revenue side of the Google.

 

Google said that its business running graphical "display" ads - many of which are integrated alongside YouTube videos - was generating $5 billion in revenue on an annualized run rate basis.

 

Still, most of the 4 billion videos that YouTube now streams worldwide every day do not make money. Three billion YouTube videos a week are monetized, according to the company.
